Do you ever have the kind of day when lots of little things go wrong and it makes you crazy? Nothing major happens, just little stupid stuff that plucks your last nerve. This is the kind of day that makes me want to wrap my head in duct tape to keep it from exploding. I've had more than a week of these days. Days like when I get up and go in the kitchen in the morning to find three of my children's school lunches standing with the bags open and I look in the bags and find that the sandwich is gone from each one. Now I know I made the sandwiches and put them in the proper bags. After all, if T-man gets Godzilla's PB & J, it will ruin his whole day. As I'm standing there wondering what on earth happened, I happen to look under the kitchen table to find a pile of chewed up ziploc bags with sandwich residue inside. Then I see two dogs with guilty expressions on their faces. Now- I know that the dogs are capable of eating the sandwiches - that's not a surprise. The question is, how did they open the paper bags so neatly, rather than chewing them up like the ziploc bags? Also, why just the sandwiches - why not the cookies, potato chips and fruit? Are they limiting carbs? I strongly suspect the cat was also involved, however, being a cat, he is much too smart to hang around and get caught with the evidence. Get me some duct tape!
Since I had to remake everyone's sandwich - (a job I don't care for at night, let alone when I'm half awake in the morning) I decided I would stop at McDonalds on the way to work for a breakfast sandwich. I had a Monopoly piece for a free breakfast sandwich, so it sounded like a good idea. Until that is, I am waiting in line behind a man who is having a hissy fit over the apples he received in his bag. He kept protesting that, "I want the other apples." The young man behind the counter went to the refrigerator and got another bag of apples and said, "We have these apples or these apples (of course, both are identical)." The other man finally walked away grumbling to himself. I'm thinking, seriously . . . why would anyone go to McDonalds in search of the perfect apple slice? The perfect Egg McMuffin, maybe, but apple slices? Give me some more duct tape. (Thankfully, I made it to work on time despite Apple Man's theatrics. There isn't enough duct tape in the world that would help if I were late.)
Anyhow, have you ever had a duct tape moment - when some little thing that shouldn't bother you just about sends you over the edge?

Free Hotdogs - no more :(
The free hotdogs were great while they lasted - but - went to buy a package the other day and the coupon didn't double. I asked the cashier why, and he didn't know either and went to find out. Five minutes later, he came back and said, "It says don't double, so we can't double it." He then pulled out a magnifying glass (no-I'm not kidding) and showed me where, buried in the fine print at the bottom of the coupon, it says "coupon cannot be doubled." So - I paid my .34 for the hotdogs and moved on.
I make every effort to follow the rules. Thirty-four cents is still a great price for a package of hotdogs. I just think it is ridiculous to bury the "Do Not Double," in the fine print so that you need a magnifying glass to see it.

Free hotdogs!
I found a great deal on hotdogs. Not my favorite food, but good to keep around for fast meals without the drive-thru.
A couple of weeks ago, three Gwaltney coupons came out - .45 off Gwaltney hotdogs, .45 off bologna, and .75 off bacon.
While shopping at Martin's the other day, I found Gwaltney hotdogs on sale for .79 a package. Since Martin's will double coupons, that means some free hotdogs with the coupon. I have several coupons, but Martin's will only double one like coupon per visit. So, I'm just picking up a pack of hotdogs each time I go to the store. Since there is a Martin's basically across the street from my school, this is working out fine.
Now, if only I could find a coupon for boneless chicken breasts, or even better, steak! I know - I'm crazy :)
